Catch the 25th Annual Leesburg Flower and Garden Festival
Spring is in the air, and that’s apparent nowhere else more than at the annual Leesburg Flower and Garden Festival, which is held each year in historic downtown Leesburg, Virginia. The event spans two entire days, and occupies King, Market and Cornwall Streets in downtown Leesburg, VA. What should you know about this incredible festival? Ready to get your “grow” on?
When:
The festival will be held rain or shine on April 18 and 19 (that’s a Saturday and Sunday). The hours are 10 am to 6 pm on Saturday and 10 am to 5 pm on Sunday. It takes place in downtown Leesburg, and you can learn more about this event
right on the festival’s website (www.FlowerAndGarden.org). Admission
will cost $3 per adult, and children under 6 years of age are free
.
What:
According to the Flower and Garden website, the festival is, “an annual rite of spring for Loudon County.” With 150 different flower and garden related vendors, it’s easy to see why it’s such a big hit. Of course, there’s more on offer
than just plants and gardening equipment. There’s live music, food, and even activities
for the kids to enjoy while you explore the stunning arrangements
and peruse gardening supplies.
If you think the Flower and Garden Festival is limited to just flowers, you’re in for a pleasant surprise. There’s a lot more on offer
here, including:
- Gardening supplies and tools
- Plant sellers (live plants, seeds, bulbs and more)
- Outdoor living furniture (from patio furniture to yard furniture and everything in between)
- Landscaping tools, equipment and even service providers
If you’re a professional landscape designer and have a particularly evocative landscape design that you’d like to show off, make sure you enter the landscape design competition. This contest is open
to landscape designers from all over Virginia, and allows you to show off your
chops to a very interested audience.
Music will be performed on the main stage, as well as throughout the rest of the festival. Kids’ activities will take place in the designated children’s area, and kids of all ages are welcome to come and enjoy themselves.
The Wine and Beer Garden
After working up a thirst perusing all the displays and wares, why not head over to the festival’s wine and beer garden? You’ll find a wide ranging selection of Virginia’s best wines and beers from local breweries and wineries. The wine and beer garden will be located just off Market Street in the Town Parking Garage (where you can park at the same time – but additional parking is offered
near Ida Lee Park, with a shuttle provided to help get you to the festival proper).
If this sounds like your cup of tea, make plans to be in Leesburg on April 18 and 19. It’s an amazing time and more than just a gardening festival – it’s a full two-day event
and you’ll need at least a day to explore all there is to see and do here.
